A U.S. diplomat with the State Department since 2006, Silvana Rodriguez is the Partnerships Advisor in the Secretary’s Office of Global Partnerships, where she focuses on public-private partnerships that promote diplomacy and development.  Silvana recently returned to Washington D.C. following a year at Princeton University as a John L. Weinberg Fellow focusing on public policy.  Prior to Princeton, Silvana spent three years at the U.S. Embassy in Colombia covering peace process issues and political-military affairs in the Political Section.  Her other State Department assignments include several years covering Russia's foreign policy and political-military affairs on the Russia Desk in Washington D.C., as well as tours in the U.S. Embassies in Madagascar and Argentina.  Prior to joining the State Department, Silvana spent several years in the private sector as an Associate at AALC (formerly Armitage Associates), where she assisted defense and energy clients with projects in East Asia, Afghanistan, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the United States in assessing and mitigating political risk and assessing market entry feasibility.  Born in Venezuela of Colombian parents, Silvana grew up in the Midwest.  She holds a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University and an M.A. in Public Policy from Princeton University.  Silvana lives in Washington D.C. with her husband Lee Payne, a fellow U.S. diplomat and Naval reservist, and their son.
